The sensitive and respectful treatment of human remains is of utmost importance to the ANCESTORS Project. We follow the ethical guidelines of British, Italian and European professional bodies, in consideration of the needs of all stakeholder groups. All destructive sampling methods and techniques are critically considered to balance the production of new knowledge about past lives with the need to preserve skeletal collections in recognition that they are a unique and limited record. We are committed to Open Access publication and FAIR data principles.
